The Club SciKidz Atlanta Hands-On Data Science and AI Summer Camp offers students aged 13-15 a unique opportunity to delve into the world of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science through practical, project-based learning. Campers will move beyond simply using technology to actively creating it, guided by expert counselors. The curriculum emphasizes core AI skills, including Natural Language Processing (NLP), Data Analysis & Visualization, and Face & Voice Recognition. Through hands-on projects, students will learn to code and build their own AI models from scratch. The camp culminates in an independent research project where students choose a topic of interest to showcase their newly acquired skills to family and friends at an end-of-week presentation.
For younger campers (grades 4-7), there is also a "Junior AI and Chat Bots" camp which introduces AI, machine learning, and how computers "think" using visual programming tools like Scratch. In this camp, students create personalized chatbots, learning about basic algorithms to teach their chatbots to converse, answer questions, and tell jokes. This provides a playful introduction to complex AI concepts.
A typical day includes a morning check-in, an all-camp science demonstration, followed by three S.T.E.A.M rotations, lunch and recess, an afternoon snack, an outdoor component for team and skill building, and concludes with clean-up and camper pickup.
This camp is ideal for middle and high school students (ages 13-15) who are curious about Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and want to gain hands-on coding experience to build their own AI models.
