Oakland Camps offer a unique opportunity to explore art, history, nature, and science within the historic and engaging environment of Oakland Cemetery.
Campers in the "Atlanta From Above" program will explore the wonders of aviation and the atmosphere through a variety of engaging, hands-on activities. They will gain skills in model building by constructing and launching model airplanes and designing their own kites. The camp also delves into the science of aerodynamics and the principles of flight. Campers will learn about local bird and insect species that take to the skies through birdwatching adventures and other observational activities. Creative arts and crafts projects with sky-themed art and educational games will further enhance their appreciation for the world above us. The program aims to inspire curiosity and ignite imaginations, providing unforgettable experiences that reach for the stars.
Each day, campers engage in hands-on activities celebrating flight, including building and launching model airplanes, designing kites, and exploring aerodynamics. They also learn about birds and insects, participate in birdwatching, and create sky-themed art and educational games.
This camp is perfect for young adventurers aged 6-11 with a passion for all things airborne and a desire to explore art, history, nature, and science in a unique outdoor setting.
