Campers get to take home their very own robotic capybara, which they use throughout the week to solve an animal mystery using forensic science techniques.
Camp Invention's Fur-ensics™ module transforms campers into animal detectives, teaming them up with a robotic capybara to solve a series of mischievous pranks at the Camp Invention Biopark. Campers will sharpen their detective skills by exploring forensic science techniques, including analyzing fur and feathers under a microscope, investigating suspicious paint splatters, and identifying animal tracks. They will also engage in interactive fingerprint activities and DNA forensic analysis simulations. Inspired by the inner mechanics of their robotic capybara, children will apply creative problem-solving skills to invent and build their own sleuthing gadgets to aid in their investigation. The program emphasizes critical thinking and deductive reasoning as campers evaluate evidence, compare clues, and ultimately reveal the animal suspect. As a culminating activity, campers will design one-of-a-kind costumes to disguise their capybara sidekick for a Masquerade Fur Ball, where they aim to catch the culprit and celebrate their success. Campers will take home their robotic capybara at the end of the week.
Campers start the day at Base Camp with creative games, then rotate through two invention experiences in the morning, break for lunch and outdoor games, and continue with two more exciting experiences in the afternoon before ending the day with problem-solving games at Base Camp.
This camp is best for curious elementary-aged children (K-6) who enjoy building, experimenting, solving mysteries, working with friends, and turning ideas into physical creations.
